How will you get organized?
Last Thursday at my good ol’ workshop with CEED, Jane Veldhoven of Get Organized! Professional Services was speaking to our group on Organization and Time Management. Like many who bring up time management she also stated that time management is not really about time, as you only have a certain amount of time every day. It’s more about managing the activities you have to do each day and make them work in the time available.
For some this may mean hiring a Virtual Assistant such as myself, to take care of the many tasks that have to be done, but which take too much time to complete. For some it may mean learning how to better organize yourself so you can manage these tasks your self, by hiring someone like Jane to come in your space and help your reorganize, make a system that you can follow.
It comes down to how you want to use your time; do you need to get the little things off your desk and on someone else’s to have time to do the core part of your business, or do you want to figure out how you can set up a system and manage all of it your self. Some may have a professional organizer come in with all intentions o setting up a system, and you may still find yourself falling by the wayside once they are gone. As with any situation it is best to test it out and tweak your system as you go. Most business processes are a continual cycle of Implement, Assess results, Make changes and Implement again.
Choosing how you will get organized is your first step. It’s a choice many find hard to do as it means you have to be willing to give up a bit of control and let someone else come in and help reach your solution. Acknowledge that you need help and contact someone who will be able to lead you down the path to being organized and getting your work done.
Virtual Assistant or Professional Organizer, both can help you, one way or another, get organized and work more efficiently. Which way will you try?
