Organized kids = Organized you, right?

Summer’s over and school is back in.  And of course, yesterday at 3pm it happened, just as it does every year.  I was bombarded by the start of papers upon papers, with need to know info from the teachers or the school. These papers are vital to a student’s life in school and sometimes I think should have a security clearance assigned to them.  You can actually “ruin a life” by missing something that was on these vital documents, not to mention the time wasted morning and night searching for those papers.

This year I vowed to do it right.  I was ready!  At 3pm, when the kids came home I had 3 binders set out – one for each and each labeled with their names.  My weapon of choice was set as well.  My handy, dandy 3 hole punch!

One by one I punched the papers and placed them in the appropriate binder. We filled out items to be returned to the teachers and copied schedules for our nerve centre – the fridge! Then I read them all – an important part of the process – don’t forget this step!

I am making light of the situation, but this year I am planning to NOT FAIL my kids by forgetting anything. Last year was just disastrous, we forgot art supplies, class treats and one class trip among other things.

This year I am certain my binder files will work.  I will not lose any of these papers and the kids will be organized and on top of things.  If they are organized, by default I should be organized, and maybe they will even learn a trick or two to get them on the road to organization!

All it takes sometimes is a simple plan everyone can follow, 3 binders and a hole punch. A system I have used to keep my business organized, so it should work with the kids too … let’s hope it’s that easy.
