A Great Virtual Assistant – helping others!

A Virtual Assistant (VA) contact of mine, Candy Beauchamp – who I met through my online networking at VAnetworking – runs a very successful VA business, and has just launched her latest venture >>>>

2 Minutes with a VA

People were always asking her for advice (I know I did icon smile A Great Virtual Assistant helping others! )and being so busy, she found it hard to answer everyone. Always wanting to help others, and as smart and savvy as she is; she comes up with another great business idea.  A Video Blog that helps other VAs by giving two minutes of her time.

Kudos to you Candy!  It’s always great to see others share their success and knowledge to new people (and old) in any industry.

So if any of you are thinking you have some questions about being a virtual assistant – Take 2 Minutes with Candy – I’m certain she’ll be able to help you out!

Blogging dry spell…

Everyone has them,  it’s hard to always be inspired to blog. January has been busy for me and I have been stumped this past week.  Trying to find my inspiration today, I  came across a great article from a fellow virtual assistant, Karri Flatla, and recommend it to anyone who is having their own dry spell.  She has some great tips in there.

This is a short post… as I am off to work on the 12 step program Karri details in her article.

It's the New Year … take your inventory

Everyone should start the New Year off by taking stock of your inventory – personal and business, even if you do not have a business, or a business that requires keeping inventory.

As a Virtual Assistant, I do not carry inventory in my business – my inventory is my skill and ability. These items allow me to do my work for clients and do it well, as long as I keep it up to date.  Personally, it is my family and friends – yes they can be classified as inventory too!

I am very lucky; my kids and husband are all healthy, they may get on my nerves at times, but I need them. The same goes for my Mom, Sister, Dad and more… I wouldn’t trade them for the world and am thankful for all of them.

Business-wise,  I am constantly learning and my business is growing.  I am taking a few training courses to help me learn new skills, and am checking often to see if I am on track.  This past year, I have taken on a whole new direction in life and each month I have been taking stock of what I am doing and trying to determine if it is working out. So far, the answer is – Yes.

January is a great time for everyone to stop and think about your inventory – are you where you want to be?  Look around you… can you change anything, make it better… or are you thankful that  you have what you want and just need to remind others that you are happy they are part of your life.

New Year, new beginning…  start it off right.

What motivates you?

My son and I started a training class tonight – with our dog, Lola.  My sister bought the lessons for him for his birthday; the intent being to be able to join an Agility Class once they finish the fundamental class.  Lola loves to run and we all thought  getting her in a group that runs through tunnels and over ramps would be great fun.

The trainer, Aimée, from Fetch Inc. had some words of wisdom regarding motivation that I had never thought about before.  Money or food – Like most of us, the dogs in the class have a motivator for doing the skills she was introducing, the food treats we had all brought for our dogs for rewards.

Her example was simple – most people are motivated by money to work – dogs can be best motivated by food.  Aimée said she loves her job, but if she were not getting her paycheck, chances are less she would continue to go to work every day. The money is her reward for her work.
