How will you get organized?

Last Thursday at  my good ol’ workshop with CEED, Jane Veldhoven of Get Organized! Professional Services was speaking to our group on Organization and Time Management. Like many who bring up time management she also stated that time management is not really about time, as you only have a certain amount of time every day.  It’s more about managing the  activities you have to do each day and make them work in the time available.

For some this may mean hiring a Virtual Assistant such as myself, to take care of the many tasks that have to be done, but which take too much time to complete.   For some it may mean learning how to better organize yourself so you can manage these tasks your self, by hiring someone like Jane to come in your space and help your reorganize, make a system that you can follow. Organized kids = Organized you, right?

Summer’s over and school is back in.  And of course, yesterday at 3pm it happened, just as it does every year.  I was bombarded by the start of papers upon papers, with need to know info from the teachers or the school. These papers are vital to a student’s life in school and sometimes I think should have a security clearance assigned to them.  You can actually “ruin a life” by missing something that was on these vital documents, not to mention the time wasted morning and night searching for those papers.

This year I vowed to do it right.  I was ready!  At 3pm, when the kids came home I had 3 binders set out – one for each and each labeled with their names.  My weapon of choice was set as well.  My handy, dandy 3 hole punch!
